COW was started by three friends at Oregon State University in the Spring of 2009. Their goal was to create a organization that would raise global awareness and social responsibility among fellow students around the world, and use a collective effort to build a healthier better world.
With a knack for adventure and passion for helping others, Team COW entered the Africa Rally. The Africa Rally takes off on December 13, 2009 and is a one-of-a-kind, extreme, fundraising adventure. The Africa Rally starts in London, England and ends in Kribi, Cameroon. The rules are simple, each team is limited to an unsuitable 1 liter engine vehicle. There are no routes, no support, and no back-up. Each team is entirely on it's own in figuring out how to cross 1/4 of the globe navigating scorching deserts, wild jungles, and monsoon swollen rivers.
While the adventurists are participating in the Africa Rally, a team of supporters back home will continue to provide up-to-date information on the status of team COW's progress, and continue to work towards the cause of establishing "voluntourism."
